Meet Celeste

I would like to introduce you to Celeste, who joined our Design Team earlier this year. Please say hi.
Here is a little from her…

Hi my name is Celeste Glover and I have been scrapping for the last seven or so years. Previously I was addicted to cross stitch, sewing and photography, until I went to a class one night and got hooked on scrapbooking. I live with my husband Alan and four great kids, Chloe 17, Alexander 14, and my twins Cameron and Amberly 12. I find inspiration from absolutely everything and can’t wait to share it all with you.

Celeste worked with the Bo Bunny Enchanted Range last Term and designed these for us. Her first class was well received, and many ladies scrapped beautiful memories of their Wedding Day or School Ball. So many compliments came back from the ladies who did this and the whole paper range sold out on the day of class.

Celeste’s blog is called Gero Girl and you can find it here… and here is the address http://www.gerogirl.blogspot.com.au/

20120428-193827.jpg

We have been lucky enough to have this project on our front counter for the past few weeks, made with the Graphic 45 TropicaI Travelogue collection, is is full of goodness! I love these colours, the blue is so bright and fun! Of course this is available at The Scrapbook House.
If you missed seeing it on our counter in real life, you can see every page here on Celeste’s blog where she had photographed every page. Did you know this mini album was made from paper bags?

Have a fantastic day!

The timetable is now up for the kids classes, see Current Timetables link above!

Making new look old

Seems that is such a popular look for scrapbooking, that almost everything scrapping I touch I feel the need to distress and ink. Every flower, every edge.. my poor old daubers get a work-out. Edges are roughed, photos are sanded, I even got the store an electric distresser for the last class of the term there was so much distressing in it. Love that look.

Term 4 2011 Sneak Peek Scrapbook House Geraldton Class

This terms classes is no exeption and I took it one further and did the photo as well. But I realise this isn’t something that can be easily done at home as I used a photoshop program to do it. Seeing as I haven’t found the time to teach photoshop lessons again, I thought I would offer to do this for you.

This is the orginal colours… a little playing in Photoshop and this is the result.

So… if you are taking our Term 4 classes, and have a photo in mind that you would like to use for the “Handsome” page, and you would like it looking like this aged photo… then bring it in on a USB and I will alter it for you.

Have a great day!

End of term draws near.

After a lovely weekend with my family I am ready for the last week of term and look forward to the school holidays, sleep-ins and being with my King, Princess and Princes. During the break at work we will put on the finishing touches to our Term 3 classes, already they are looking great.

With the prices of scrapbooking falling so much, we are happy to announce that we have had to restructure our class prices… to your advantage! Those who booked in advance this term already have credits awaiting them as the stock that came in was at great prices. So if the old dollar was holding you back from scrapping… then no more… come in to see our great affordable classes to suit you!

Check out the kids timetable on the “Current Timetables” to see what Em has in store for the kids over the holidays. Pics and dates will be added soon. We also have a Late Night Lock In over the break, the last weekend of the holidays, I know a few people who have been hanging out for one of these!

And of course… followed by the 365 photographic entries for yesterday and today.

Labelled a Weed 147 / 365
But it’s really quite pretty. Back in the garden again this weekend, (seems it’s the only place I can hide out where it’s relatively quiet) and we planted some new little plants. Most of my time was spent weeding… there are five hundred trillion weeds (trust me I counted them) most of them small, but they all had to go, and with all the little self-seeded plants in amongst them, I didn’t dare leave them till my darling hubby comes along with the poison and kills everything. Some weeds were large, and flowering like this beauty, and yes, this one was pulled up too. Shame as they grow so well and have such a pretty flower, but they completely take over… so they had to go of nothing else would survive. Sometimes you have to let go of something good if you want something better there in it’s place.

Winter green 148 / 365
More weeds… but it is oh so nice to see it so brilliantly green down the back of our yard for a change. The only thing that really grows well under out huge Gum trees are the weeds in winter. We will have to get to them soon. (and I use the term “we” loosely here, I mean “he”, haha)

With love to you and yours xxx

Merry week gone by

Don’t you just love it when you are so busy that time flies? Or do you dislike it? I am not sure. On one hand it’s nice to be so active… on the other I feel like I am on a merry-go-round, it’s all fun till you want to get off and you can’t. You have to ride it out. But it’s fun, so it’s ok. This is me, saying the same stuff I say at the end of every term, love it, but am looking forward to school holidays. My kids have been working very hard this term (and for those interested in math scores - the boys work paid off, they both got B’s – without leaving classroom or aid) Now they want a kitten as a pay-off. Lord help me!

Another week of awesome classes gone by. Book now for next term and also for the kids during the school holidays. Here’s a pic of Saturday’s  kids class. Fun! And they all got it done on time, cutting, inking, mounting, string, and all! They are such legends in our kids class.
We made some more kits up (lucky to anticipate another over-full class) and we have one little lonely kit left for someone who would like to put it together. Full instructions and photograph included. $19.95

And here are a couple of my 365 entries for this week from around my yard. We have been getting some lovely rainfall.

Native 138 / 365
The rain washed most of the dust… not all, and will bring more flowers. Everything will be clean and shining soon.
Native by scrapnyak

Vinca 139 / 365
My garden is loving all this rain we are getting… it really suffers being on water restrictions.
My boys on the other hand are NOT loving the rain… it’s too loud on the tin roof through the night. Ah well… can’t win all the time.
Vinca by scrapnyak

Down the weedy path 140 / 365
The yard is transformed into green now the rains are here and it’s a welcome change, even if most of the green are weeds. :) Thought I’d snap this little angel reading a book under my daughters archway to the cubby. She’s busy all day today at school, (yes it’s Sunday) for a “write a book in a day” activity to raise money for Princess Margaret Hospital. From 8am to 8pm! Written, printed, illustrated, bound and presented. I keep thinking about her and think she will be one tired little miss when she gets home. 2 half hours to go.

Take care. Enjoy you day where ever you are. x

Another busy day

My day just flew by today, and I am sitting here dazed and wondering where it went? Today I made some time for some friends to meet a breakfast before work, and I am sorry I haven’t done this more often. I do enjoy chatting with them, and seem to be always too busy! Note to self: Make time for old friends at least once a fortnight. I think if I can’t meet with them, then I should spend a little time to post a card, or write a note or even email.

Today’s class was fun, I love it when the ladies are all enjoying themselves and beign creative. I didn’t get into the office till after 3, so was there till after 5 doing up invoices etc. Tonight’s class ran way overtime too and I didn’t get home till almost 10 tonight, with my family all tucked up in bed asleep. They were great pages though and the girls all had a good time with all manner of conversations going whilst cutting away with the scissors. Thanks for the laughs girls!  The things we girls talk about! We had it all tonight. Ah, and NO, I will not be going into any details here on this public forum. Hee hee.

So there is time to post a photograph of my old man cat tonight, I took a few knowing I’d be working every day.

Old man wandering the garden 135 / 365
This is “Pirate”, named so because when he was a kitten he looked like he had a ‘beard’, and he was ‘black’… ‘blackbeard’ was just too odd for a cat, so he copped Pirate. He’s an old man too, like our other cat, and although he can’t jump or run much anymore, he still manages to snag a mouse every now and then. Mostly he just curls up on a lap or a chair and snoozes. Love that old man cat.

Hope all is well with you and yours!

Wednesday is cardmaking day.

Look what we made in class today. What a lovely way to spend the morning.

I love making cards, and a love it when we get to use different papers and products to make them unique and special. I believe cards need to be special.

Do you love handmade cards?

Why?

Here’s a couple closer. What a lovely job these ladies did in class today.

Scrapping up a storm

Loving our Basic Grey Page of the Month Kits!  Michele and I scrapped last night, doing up classes and then we whipped up another Basic Grey kit too. Wow, what a productive night, to do 2 double pages in one night, but the photos still need to be added before I can share, so I have sent them to the printer tonight. Luckily the 365 photo project gives me plenty to choose from. Do you find it hard to find photos sometimes? I must admit that I do. Sometimes from a lack of ‘printed’ photos and sometimes from an overwhelming number of photos there’s too many to wade through. I think the simple 35mm times were much easier.. click, take it in, pick them up, have them forever. Now… well, oh my, there’s photos everywhere… more than ever, but somehow less than ever. Does that make sense? Am I rambling again. Sorry. Maybe Michele and I shouldnt have stayed out so late last night.

So in addition to those 2, I added the photos to the first kits and finished these off with my titles and journaling. These kits have me doing layouts, following instructions and ‘getting it done’. Not always colours and patterns I would choose (Lordy that Lauderdale had my eyebrows furrowed in distaste) but they end up looking pretty good.

And they are DONE. “Done” is a great word for me… I like it a lot. I don’t get to say it a lot. Done. Done. Done. Done.

I love that you get loads of alphas with these… so I could make up my titles to suit the layout. This is obviously very different to the original.

Now to get those  jobs done so one can get onto the new “Sweet Threads” kit. ( There is one (just one) subscription left if anyone is keen to join us on Page of the Month.)

Time to Paint

I do hope you are enjoying your Easter holiday. Our holidays are spent at home with the family, not that we have a lot of choice in that matter, but we enjoy it just the same. Being the ‘working Mum’ my home is often neglected and my kids miss out on a lot of ‘fun Mum stuff’, so each holidays I try to make it worth the wait and do stuff with them. Simple ‘fun Mum stuff’ like swimming, watching tv and hanging out together. My girl child is away with friends and I do miss her! Being in a house full of boys, completely outnumbered is challenging and I have had to put up with all manner of conversation and fart jokes. Today seemed to flow so well, and my number one rule was to ban tv and computer (for all our sakes) till after dark. What a difference that makes! We cleaned and tidied and I got 3 loads of washing done (Josh watched… lazy bugger) as they pulled out the Kings’ birthday present – model airplanes, and they painted and glued and sanded the afternoon away. After lunch we all headed for a swim next door (even Josh) and then came back home for more painting. I decided to finish off a painting that I had started earlier this year.. it’s sat and sat, waiting for me. So today I finished it and was happy with the result. No idea what kind of bird that is… haha, but I made it for a special lady who likes red breasted robins. I should have googled robins perhaps, but copied from a picture of a bird I liked and made it’s breast read instead. Ah well, it’s kinda cute and she will like it I am sure. She has no idea that I have done it for her, hopefully she won’t think I’m just plain weird.

We also watched a movie, but child #3 headed off to bed unwell, it seems my kids are guaranteed to get a cold 2 days after going to the aquarena. He goes about 2 or 3 times a year  and EVERY time gets sick, and he is not sick in between! Grrr… they must get the water up their nose or in their throats. I just pray it doesn’t go through the house. Makes me want to avoid that pool.

I have been working on card classes too, last night and tonight. It’s easier creating when you’re not under the pump and much more enjoyable too. Maybe by the end of tonight I will have one full class done, with additional samples. (yes.. I tend to overdo things, I know, but ”class” has to be good!)

Enjoy your weekend!

Time to paint

111 / 365

Today was such a lovely day hanging out with my boys. There seemed time for everything. They put together some model airplanes so I got out my paints and finished off my ‘bird on a branch’ that’s been sitting on my easel for the longest time.

Creative Fun for Kids

The girls in our kids class loved making their flowers in Emily’s last class last Saturday. They cut, layered, glued and glimmermisted. This was Em’s own design and each flower was uniquely hand-drawn. I thought this was ingenious to hand make them out of paper. Boy they looked so good!

Our Kids classes are up on the Current Timetable section and we are taking bookings now.

Em has some great classes planned for the kids, like the gorgeous little Picket Fence Mini Album and Kids Scrap with a Sketch session.

Meanwhile do you want to come and do your own thing? The workroom is available for use on all the other days… pay $5 and stay as long as you like! Maybe you and a friend could spend some time together having some creative fun. We have kits to do, or bring your own project.

Pampering the wildlife

105 / 365

We have big trees and there are a multitude of birds and animals living amongst them. Today Andrew had a flock of fans as it was hot and he had a hose. He squirted them down and then it was on! They called to their families and about 20 or more came for a shower and a play. I don’t even know what kind of bird these are. Any ideas?

Keeping up

Today was the last day of school for my 3 youngest, and we all are breathing a sigh of relief I think. It was such a long term, and the children were exhausted by the end of it… I have no idea how the teachers went! I bet they are going to enjoy their break.
Our family will enjoy the break… we do nothing better … doing nothing. :)
Meanwhile I am trying had to keep my 365 up to date by uploading a photo a day and now am looking at all these lovely photos, thinking I had better get them printed, snatch some of the gorgeous papers off the shelves and scrap them! Day by day, time ticks away, and even if I scrap once a week, it’s not enough. I accept that, but still wish I could scrap all day, every day. Ah… wouldn’t that be nice? So would a world made of chocolate.
Kira is doing a great job at the shop, handing all the responsibilities with ease. She managed perfectly on Tuesday when I was away all day at a Business Course (which gave me a pounding headache, smelly armpits and a bunch of inspiring stuff I can’t wait to sink my teeth into) Who said “Ya can’t get good help these days!”  They were wrong. Kira is great! There’s also some more news regarding our team, but I will wait till it’s official before blabbing. Interested? Stay tuned. ;)
We have new products in stock, Kira and I have been madly pricing and getting onto the shelves, more Hero Arts, more Scrap FX, more trimmers, restock of regular items, more tools, more papers (only a few LYB left from the Twig range).  We are packing classes, and there are only a few places left in the scrapbook classes, so if you haven’t got your name down… call me! If you want them held for you to do as ‘take-away”… call me!
There’s a new page up for sale on the facebook site too… limited supply.

Enjoy my photos and see you soon.

Not bad for an old man

103 / 365
My beautiful old friend seems to be aging so quickly these past few months. His personality is changing after 18 years as well as his looks. He’s getting ’greys’ , sleeps when he is not looking for food and doesn’t walk or even sit quite the same as he used to. He stays very close, and ‘talks’ more than ever, louder than ever. Dementia and deafness… great conditions for a Siamese to have… not!
