I had two friends tag me in a Prima Watercolour Challenge that was posted on Facebook – so I headed over to have a look.
Uhhuh, yeah, I could give it a go, for a little while anyway. I’m not good at sticking to things for very long. I had tried the “planking challenge” and only got to day 4… and mostly because day 3 was a rest day.
Turns out I loved it, and kept up every day. Being challenged to paint something each day, although difficult, took the worry out of “what to paint” and it didn’t have to have it perfect, it didn’t even have to be good. The only requirement I set on myself was that it was “done”.
I urge you to give it a go, take the challenge yourself – and see where it takes you. I’d love to see your paintings too if you would be so kind to share.
The only thing that worried me was uploading them for others to see, my little paintings so I also added a short video here and there to show the progression of some of them. This is all new to me and I learned so much along the way.
Here are the paintings. I will also add the quick videos to this post, and upload them to the website as some of them are now on youtube.
Please be inspired to have a play with watercolours. 🙂
See the special offer at the end of this post…
Were you one of the many that got yourself an adults colouring book when the craze hit? Perhaps you’re like me and started doing a couple of pages, then left it and went onto other things when you realised just how loooonnnggg it takes to complete an adults page? Maybe you need motivation? Maybe you need the blender pen! (Come see me about that one)
There’s a great colouring network group on Facebook for the Midwest, go check them out, they post regular challenges and share work. I hardly post there, but I regularly stalk the page.
Because this page existed and kept showing up in my newsfeed, I was reminded of that book and pencils I just HAD to have… and to get it out. I actually love colouring in, some of my pages done whilst in hospital will be at the end of this post, coloured with Prima Pencils and a Blender Pen. It might just be the inspiration you needed, like it was for me. Either way, it’s a great page for Midwest Colourists and you might make a new friend or two.
Anyhow, go join up, click “like” here and there and maybe you’ll be inspired too. You’ll find them here at Geraldton and Midwest Colouring
Oh and we have HALF PRICE colouring on any books in store right now. HALF PRICE!!
That’s right – HALF PRICE colouring on any books in store right now.
When Emily came to town I couldn’t wait to give her these sets of watercolours, check out what we created with them.

Have a colourful day
The most beautiful stories are always the tales about you and me. Prima’s new “Tales of You & Me” collection is all about the wonderful stories of all the special people in your life. Floral patterns, vintage designs, and a sweet colour palette make this collection a must have! Once you see the fantastic embellishments you’ll find this line perfect for all those shabby-chic, romantic, and sweet projects you have lined up.
We are using this range in our first class for Term 2 with a beautiful page designed by Celeste. It has a beautiful chipboard frame from Dusty Attic which we will be heat embossing with white powder and features a stunning pleated paper design.
Grab these beautiful products as soon as you can – they won’t last long!
This Saturday night the shop and workroom will be open for late night scrapbooking, bring your own project and stay as long as you like. There’s a $5 fee, and a seat and table space will be all yours!
We also have a Scrapbook Page class on tonight, where we will be creating this lovely page designed by Sharon. We have plenty of places and kits if you would like to join us from 6:30, please ring to book. Kits are available as takeaway if you can’t make it in store.
Have a great day
Viv’s Prima Doll Cards are so sweet. We had fun in class making this cute trio and as our card making kit has instructions and the stamp too we can take it home and make more!
We coloured the hair and skin using a waterbrush and distress inks, aged Mahogany,Wild Honey and Spiced Marmalade for the hair tones, and Tea Dye for the skin and edges of the patterned papers. Waterbrushing the dolls give that lovely blended soft look.
Have a sweet day!
Nat’s most recent class kit was jammed with gorgeous products, all chosen by Nat herself from the superb range Prima releases.
Her class is lovely, using bits if everything and there is so much left over, that there are bonus layouts using more of the products all with Nat’s beautiful style.
Gee there are a lot of products in this kit – two classes in one!
We have these class kits for sale, each has instructions for the class page as well as photographs of the additional pages and cards completed. Kits $39.95
Note – because not everyone has the crackle template and texture paste for the first step, I have used my template and done this step for you – I know I got the fun of it, but really didn’t want anyone to miss out on the overall look of this layout, the texture is lovely!
Have a great day!
Here is my version of last week’s class kit, a Finnabair style inspired layout by Basilia. It was great to be able to create a double page with the leftovers as there were few photos to fit on – thanks to Viv for the photos!
I loved all the little rips and tears and tucking little surprises inside. We cut up the metal trinkets and flowers, very easy to do with a pair of scissors which surprised me. The ladies who did this page in class all enjoyed it and ended up being very happy with the result. We have these kits for sale, includes all products and instructions, email me if you’d like me to hold you one!
This range by Finnabair was created with Prima, so of course along with the metal mechanicals there are flowers!
Thanks for looking – have a great day!
Our Basic Grey Page of the Month for March was using the Konnichiwa papers, and there was a fair bit left after Liz, Jo, Skye and I did our pages together. Liz the smarty pants went home to use the rest and not to be outdone (but of course she already has) I decided that I would use old things to make a page and incorporate something from this kit too. It was hard!
I really like new things!
So, I had a go, and this sat on my desk for so long… And gathered a whole lot of plastering dust along the way. I got back to it this Easter and this is what I came up with.
It has some paper on it that is years old and I was pretty happy to dig out that Mothers Day quote from my stash. See! Knew I would use it one day!
Scrunched up some old flowers too, my favorite thing to do with these since I saw Jenny do this at retreat last year and tucked a few of those Basic grey flowers in to tie in with the papers. Certainly not my favourite layout, but happy to use old things and get another photo scrapped to put in the album.
I loved this day, Mothers Day, at the end of the day, Mum and I, with the 3 youngest kidlets, headed to the beach for some photos. It got dark to quick and we missed the sunset, but the kids were happy to run about and get a little wet, playing in the sand and the surf. A lovely memory.
Nothing like new things to inspire you and the new ranges have been inspiring Natalie aplenty!
Here is a page she worked on today using the new Sunkiss Range. I love the layers, even the bottom layer has texture past that has been embossed and glimmered. Nat has used the new papers, journal cards (cleverly used as frames for her gorgeous photos), alphabet stickers, as well as the famous Prima flowers.
The Prima “SONGBIRD” collection of papers is soft and pretty. Here she has used delicious Prima flowers, Twiddlychip, tea-dyed muslin and Prima embellishments, that little bird on a branch is cut from one of the papers. I can also see a few Collections butterflies hidden in there too. Always fun looking at Natalies’ work, the more you look, the more you see.
New ranges hit the shelves today!
Usually its the flowers I drool over but have you seen the other embellishments? I am in love with the trinkets and wood tickets!
Then there’s tiles, and journal notes and alphabets, so many great products to work with… I just wanna scrap now!
k, this is seriously funny!
Go read this now.
Too funny huh? I think we could be the very best friends ever! If only we weren’t in different countries. Haha. I love how she writes, I love to read it, and wish I could be so bold… but alas no. I am not bold. Not bold as brass like she is. Knock knock.. TOO FUNNY! but I just can’t do it. (haha… rolls away laughing) Oh she is wicked.
So… this week the shop has seen some Prima come and some Prima go… we have had restock of all our A4 invitation lines. I have been ordering so many new lovely ranges that Kira is a little concerned where it all is going to go. No fear.. we will fit it in like we always have (somewhere). Our sales are still on till the end of the month and slowly the racks are emptying. Most of the punches are gone now, just a couple left, so our main line is Martha Stewart with more of her punches arrving next week. Love those border punches. Just sayin’.
Last weekend my family was invited to our friends’ farm to see the lambs. Oh.. so beautiful! I treasure days like that.. out with my kids, chatting, laughing and seeing them experience new things… like riding on the back of a ute (shh… not allowed to do that) and patting a week old lamb, talking to an ancient sheep and chasing birds… and seeing through the scope of a shotgun. Things my kids will remember for a long time what a lovely afternoon we had, we really did, in so many ways. Being my first day off this school holidays (Sunday) I took my camera along to try to catch up on my 365 project. I got some lovely shots. Here are some to share.

Whilst we wait for our CHA orders to come in and our stocks have run very low on our favourite brands, I thought a little Prima might be nice to tide us over for a while.
This one is called Angel Eyes.
Just looking at this “about video” by Prima makes me love them all the more. Handmade, unique and breathtakingly beautiful. When all our flowers arrive for us to put on our pages, I think I might just appreciate them even more now.
and here’s another something I didn’t think I could love any more… but I do so more and more everyday… my baby girl in her red coat.
Out for a walk 153 / 365
Another busy day, so I have used a photo from the weekend. Used a little selective colouring for the Bougainvillea and of course THAT coat.
Had so much fun playing with this series. Shame my battery went flat because I could have photographed her all day!
Take care of you. xx
Look what we made in class today. What a lovely way to spend the morning.
I love making cards, and a love it when we get to use different papers and products to make them unique and special. I believe cards need to be special.
Do you love handmade cards?
Here’s a couple closer. What a lovely job these ladies did in class today.
There’s new Prima in store… we go a little ga-ga over the new papers and flowers it’s sure… but we also have headbands! There’s only a few (12… actually 10 now because we HAD to have a couple) so you had better get in quick. I wasn’t sure what we’d be up for, ordering headbands.. and wanted to see if they were ok.. if they were nice… if they fit… and what they were made of.
I wasn’t sure we would actually want them.
If they were wearable.
Well… the answer is yes. Tonight, child #2 and I prettied up a pink one and it turned out beautiful. We had fun, chatting and playing with flowers and pearls, then capturing it on camera. Love having a girl to play with!
