A new home online for our class kits and more

browse-our-class-kits

Class kits are our unique point of difference, we have fabulous classes and many a student has enjoyed them and the different directions they take us in, stretching our skills as we learn new products and alternate ways to use old products. We have kitted up over 6000 scrapbook class kits since our extension classes began, not to mention our easy class kits, and our card making class kits. That’s a whole bunch of kits. All these years later and we are still kitting new ones and our design team dreams up new classes every fortnight.

Previously these classes were so exclusive that you had to ‘be in the know’ to receive them, book in advance for your remote term, attend class, have them saved or sent to you. This still applies.

but…

I am so proud to share with you our latest news for The Scrapbook House. Many hours of  work and planning have finally resulted in a new webstore, where we can sell our beautiful class kits and other products. So you can now go online, check out the page, products, the requirements and even see the second page suggestions online. These can be purchased individually, but you can add as many as you like to your order, you’ll only pay one postage fee.

Catch… the new classes for each term are still run in store, and anyone who has signed up for the full term will be guaranteed the kits. Not all kits will make it to the webstore. Then once the term is done, those kits will go up on the store for sale, after the class is run.

So what are you waiting for? Head on over to the webstore now and check out the scrapbook class kits – posted anywhere in Australia!

Watercolour your World

When Emily came to town I couldn’t wait to give her these sets of watercolours, check out what we created with them.

Watercolour Confections: just like a tin of sweet confections our new watercolour tins are filled with wonderful, delightful watercolour pans in a decadent array artist-grade, high quality, and highly pigmented watercolour pans. Each tin includes flip-out mixing trays and superb features for the artist on the go! Available in Decadent Pies, Tropicals, and The Classics. (Psst…Decadent Pies has four metallic pans included!)

We had fun in our art journals, the colours are so vibrant and luscious. I can’t wait to include these in a class somehow.

New Layout Kit – Handmade Quality

Here’s a layout I created with a picture of my Dad at home in his shed. I just loved the set of stamps (they are included in the kit) and our trusty brick die cut got another workout.

I have a limited kits available. Click the picture for more information on how to purchase, or message us.

Workshop 198 Handmade Quality

I thought it was time for a masculine page, this one suits the handyman or the tradie. With embellishments like tools, bricks, gears and wood elements there are a variety of subjects to use. It would also suit a home building or renovations style theme.

Prima Tales of You and Me

The most beautiful stories are always the tales about you and me. Prima’s new “Tales of You & Me” collection is all about the wonderful stories of all the special people in your life. Floral patterns, vintage designs, and a sweet colour palette make this collection a must have! Once you see the fantastic embellishments you’ll find this line perfect for all those shabby-chic, romantic, and sweet projects you have lined up.Prima Tales of You and Me

We are using this range in our first class for Term 2 with a beautiful page designed by Celeste. It has a beautiful chipboard frame from Dusty Attic which we will be heat embossing with white powder and features a stunning pleated paper design.

Grab these beautiful products as soon as you can – they won’t last long!

Golden Christmas

This week we introduced the texture tool by Ranger, and our students ran it through the wet gold paint to create their background.

20150213-224628.jpg

I can’t wait to try these out on texture paste, I think the scalloped one would look terrific!

20150213-224726.jpg
Once the texture tool had done it’s job, done white Dylusions were splattered about, then left to dry whilst we worked on the rest of the layout.
I really enjoy my classes, this Thursday night class is small and relaxed and I sure have missed teaching these past months. I appreciate the ladies who spend some time with me creating, I am very lucky to be with such nice people. It’s a hard job I know, but someone’s gotta do it.

We have quite a few of these kits available as “takeaway kits” or if you have a group of 5 or more who would like to get together I can arrange to teach it on a day/night that suits you.

Have  great weekend… I hope you get the chance to get crafty.

A surprise every month

Distress Inks are clearly our favourites, they are so versatile and you’ll see us using them in most classes, and many of us have most colours…  so we don’t need more… but oh my oh my,  check this video out at CHA 2015 we have the man himself, Tim Holtz, telling us about the new Distress program and showing off the newest color of 2015, cracked pistachio.

Cracked Pistachio – I NEED it. xxx

You know you want it too… and we have it instore 🙂

Mothers Day cards for kids

I’m lucky enough to be volunteering at a local school tomorrow morning to make Mothers Day cards with the little ones. I love doing this so much!

I had to come up with an idea quickly, one that little fingers would be able to do easily and that I had enough stock for 20 kids to play with. We have LOTS of packs of buttons in the shop all staring at me wishing I would choose them… so I did. Do you love that “button saying”? It’s an oldie but a goodie.

Button Mothers Day card

This won’t take long for them to do, each child will choose a patterned paper and then choose their own coloured buttons to stick on… Hoping they will have fun. x

New tool for papercrafters

If you use intricate dies for cardmaking or scrapbooking, I highly recommend you have a look at this tool.

Cool huh? Those pesky teeny pieces used to annoy me too! 🙂 If you would like one of these, let me know, the supplier is sending them when they are available and it’s first come, first served.

Have a great day!

10 minutes to decorate a caddy

I had a few minutes whilst “waiting for mate” tonight and saw this Dusty Attic Caddy sitting on the end of the table. Sandie had brought it in and it was put together, just clicked in place, it didn’t even need glue, tight fit!
It was looking very plain though, and I only had a couple of minutes till my friends were due to arrive so I wondered what to do with it that would be quick. Not really wanting to get the modpodge out (well, more to the point I didn’t want to wash brushes) My first instinct was to Glimmermist it, quick and easy. Then I decided that would not be pretty enough, so I grabbed a roll of Washi tape and went to work- a few minutes later it was covered! It adheres so nicely, conforming to the edges where the chipboard has a lip. You could use almost any colour it pattern, I chose a busy floral pattern so it wouldn’t matter if I overlapped or if it didn’t line up.
20130701-213531.jpg
For the inside – not wanting any overspray, I brushed on Brick Glimmermist with a soft brush.
20130701-220346.jpgDone – this used just over half a roll of tape, and it fits a family of 12 Dylusions sprays or Glimmermists! We also have the large caddies if you have more in your family.
Have a great night

Class Kit Prima Divine

Nat’s most recent class kit was jammed with gorgeous products, all chosen by Nat herself from the superb range Prima releases.
Her class is lovely, using bits if everything and there is so much left over, that there are bonus layouts using more of the products all with Nat’s beautiful style.

20130610-103349.jpg

Gee there are a lot of products in this kit – two classes in one!

We have these class kits for sale, each has instructions for the class page as well as photographs of the additional pages and cards completed.  Kits $39.95

Note – because not everyone has the crackle template and texture paste for the first step, I have used my template and done this step for you – I know I got the fun of it, but really didn’t want anyone to miss out on the overall look of this layout, the texture is lovely!

Have a great day!

Stamped butterflies

This card making class last week was sweet, designed by Shelley,
using the Hero Arts butterfly stamp that we’ve come to know so well.

20130621-001208.jpg
We have 2  one kits leftover from this class, and because the butterfly stamp is not due into store until the end of July, we have stamped every butterfly you need (and some).
Have a great day

Far and Away

Tonight’s class was small, just the four of us, so relaxing and easy that I decided to complete the page along side with the girls. We used Teresa Collins “Far & Away”, I love the banners the most!
Of course because I decided to do this last minute I didn’t have the correct size photos, so I needed to leave the black & white Washi tape and the “sign post” off in order to fit the photos on. So, my layout isn’t as striking as Michelle’s, but at least it’s done. Gotta be happy with that. Our classes are all adaptable to your own style or taste, and to accommodate your photos. There are kits left from this class, call us for yours on 08-99648288

20130613-234525.jpg
An easy night with some fun chatter and some laughs – and a bonus was that I ended up with a few of my “phone” photos of my nephews scrapped! This was our amazing and fun whirlwind weekend away to do the class with Finnabair at Scrapbook Secrets in Perth, which turned into a bit of brotherly love as my two brothers were both in the city too. Loved this weekend – good things.
Night – sleep well xx

Quick easy cards with stickers and markers

Viv has created some card samples using the peel off 3D foil stickers – she makes it look so easy! The trims and words have been around for donkeys years, but I haven’t seen the flowers and other pictures used so well before. Makes me look at these little stickers in a different light now.

20130606-222102.jpgUsing stickers, card and markers you can make a gorgeous card like this! Peel off the stickers, (there are transfer sheets to make the job easier if you have a tendency to warp them) and stick them on card. Colour inside the lines with distress markers!

20130606-222409.jpgViv darkened sections of the colour by going over it again whilst it was still drying. The gold resists the marker to keep the colour inside the lines, how helpful!
Another sample here has the stickers on clear acetate, and it’s coloured with sharpies. You need a permanent ink on the clear film, this could also look good coloured from behind. Alcohol ink works well on clear film too.

20130606-222818.jpgA terrific look you can achieve with some simple stickers.

20130606-223146.jpgThanks Viv!

Share the Washi Love

Over 400 rolls of Washi tape rolled into our store today, it had Sharon and I in a dilemma… How much can we smuggle home? Keep reading if you’d like a get a couple of free rolls for yourself.

20130605-135000.jpg
So… What’s your favourite use for Washi? I was thinking it would be nice for gift wrapping (picturing Kraft wrap, bakers twine and matching Washi)

20130605-140804.jpgIf you have an idea… Leave me a note or a link in the comments in the next week and next Wednesday night I will (randomly) choose someone to get some Washi sent to them! (Australia only please) or, if you’d like to buy some, get on in to our store quick!
Looking forward to your comments and ideas.

Have fun!

Air dry clay

Chatting with Christine recently about an upcoming project she’s working on really got me thinking. I love being able to work with some talented, creative and very giving people. I meet some wonderful people in this line of work. She is making something special (shh… it’s under wraps for now I think) for a group soon soon and clay was going to be her choice. Polymer clay has been very popular lately, especially with the latest tutors in town, but we got to thinking and decided Martha Stewart’s Air Dry Clay was the go! This is pretty cool stuff- see the video link below on how to use the clay, products available and some quick demos. 20130519-112239.jpg

This has been in store since last year, Child #4 has had a play with my set and come up with some fun things. It’s a terrific product and certainly worth looking at if you are in the market for some hands-on fun.
Here’s the video from CHA – shows you all the moulds and how easy it is to mix colours and manipulate.
I hope Christine’s project turns out wonderful and she enjoys working with Air Dry.

Dressed to impress

The wire bodice has a new dress, made by the very talented Emily, and it’s gorgeous! Here’s a sneak peek of the front section. Amazing what can be created with the products in our store. Prima paper, lace, ribbon and a few eyelets.

20121016-000900.jpg The dress is part of our decorations for this weekend, and I will be sure to photograph it in better light and post for you to see… It’s longer than the first version, remember what I used to look like, click here to see. It will be in store again on display next Monday.
